My journey as a photographer who specializes in portrait photography as well as sports and action photography began out of two primary inspirations: the life-changing gift of becoming a father at the birth of our first child and a lifelong and deep-rooted passion for creativity.

My photography story did not begin in a studio or a classroom, but with a simple, heartfelt desire: to capture the precious moments of my firstborn. With a borrowed Canon film camera in hand, I embarked on a path that would soon intertwine my life with the art of photography.

This humble beginning blossomed into 'Matt Powell Imaging', marking my initial foray into professional photography. I took joy in every click of the shutter, whether it was capturing the tender moments of an engagement, the joyous celebration of a wedding, or the innocent beauty of a newborn.

Twenty-five years later and my passion has only deepened. Now, with three children, the youngest nearing the end of his high school journey, I've expanded my portfolio to include dynamic sports and action photography. The challenge and thrill of capturing the perfect moment in such fast-paced environments has only fueled my love for this craft.

But my journey isn’t just about the images I capture. I have spent the past twenty-four years in pastoral ministry. These are not separate hats I wear but rather pieces of the storyline which reveal the larger plot of the person God has created me to be. This has given me a perspective that sees beyond the lens, finding the extraordinary in the ordinary, the profound in the simple, and the timeless amidst the temporary.

In every snapshot, I strive not just to capture a moment, but to immortalize an emotion, making each memory timeless.
